Old PC Ads from the 1970’s

To recycle the old Virginia Slims tagline – “you’ve come a long way, baby!”

Old PC Ads (from techrepublic.com)

The last ad features a teenager named Ralph Lipe (see duplicate image below) who went on to be a University of Texas at Austin CS grad who worked with Microsoft developing technologies that are still in use today.

If only we could have kept computers in that style today.

That boy is so lucky to have been taught how to write a that outdated program and then print it out on sheet paper. And only for $499! What a steal.

Let’s start a trend, instead of steampunk, PC, 70’s style! That would rock. Like cat diaries.

I lived across the street from Ralph in Fort Worth, He never went to Carnegie-Mellon. He went to the University of Texas from 1982-1986 and then he went to work for Microsoft in Seattle.

Just goes to show you I need to vet my sources. I had misread the blog of a co-worker’s of Ralph. Thanks for the heads up, I’ve updated the post. Cheers.
